Ever since Lego released the Millennium Falcon set in 2000, fans of another iconic and long-running sci-fi series have been clamoring for a brick version of their own ship. Finally. Lego is giving Star Trek fans what they've been begging for. The Lego Enterprise-D set will be released on November 28—just in time for Black Friday. Let's beam over to Lego HQ to see what this set entails.
Rather than recreating the Enterprise of the original series, Lego has opted for the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D) model used in Star Trek: The Next Generation. Bigger, brighter, and boldly going where previous starships couldn't, this model is a natural choice. Frankly, we're surprised that that Lego hasn't released a Trek set before, as there's a ton of overlap between Trek and Lego fans. Given the devotion of the fanbase, it almost felt like Lego was leaving money on the table.
However, that's no longer the case with this set. At $399, it will set back a few bucks, but this set is worth every penny to fans. Let's take a closer look at what's included.
Set Phasers To Fun!
The Lego Enterprise comes together in 3600 pieces packed with detail and expert craftsmanship. While the ship is meant to be a display piece (it says ages 18+ for a reason!) it's not meant to be entirely stagnant. Not only does the shuttlebay open for pods, but the command saucer can detach for those extra special missions. The set also includes a display stand capturing the ship's best angle as well as an information plaque.
But, what's a ship without its crew? Of course this set includes minifigures to help your ship navigate deep space. In fact, Lego's downright spoiling fans. Not only are there nine minifigures, but each comes with their own signature accessory! We have Jean-Luc Picard with a teacup, Will Riker with a trombone, Beverly Crusher with a tricorder, Worf with a phaser, Data with Spot the cat, Geordi La Forge with an engineering case, Deanna Troi with a padd, Guinan with a bottle, and Wesley Crusher with a portable tractor beam!
And, as if that wasn't enough, you can round out your crew with an extra 10th figure. If you purchase the set in the first three days of sale, they'll also throw in a 261-piece model of the shuttlepod Onizuka along with a Ro Laren minifig. Quantities are limited, so make sure to get your order in early if you want this deal.
Signature Sweepstakes
While the cost may be steep—though certainly more affordable than some other sets—there is one way to get this set for free. Members of the Lego Insiders program can enter a contest to win a set. Not only will the set be free, it will also be signed by Commander Riker himself, Jonathan Frakes! The contest runs through December 1, and it is completely free to enter. More information about the sweepstakes as well a closer look at the set can be found in this livestream.
Don't miss out on this landmark set as it's sure to fly off the shelves just in time for the holidays.
Perhaps, we can look forward to other Enterprise models with other crews in the future. At least a bridge set, so you can out your mini crew to work without damaging their precious ship. To learn more about this set and the sweepstakes, visit Lego's official site for further details.
