Tony, We Have a Serious Problem
Iron Man’s armor can handle a lot, and if you’ve followed Stark for any length of time, you already know he’s at his best when he can outbuild the threat in front of him. But that’s for Marvel villains. What about the other side of the pond? As it turns out, DC is stacked with foes we’re not sure the billionaire genius would be able to best in battle!
1. Darkseid
Darkseid is the kind of enemy who makes even Iron Man’s most advanced suits feel limited. Tony isn’t just dealing with strength here—he’s dealing with a cosmic tyrant who can erase people with the Omega Beams. His armor might let him survive a few blows, but surviving isn’t the same thing as winning when Darkseid can overwhelm entire worlds.
2. Brainiac
Brainiac would be a nightmare for Tony, let’s be honest. He combines terrifying intelligence with technology so advanced that Stark tech itself would look outdated. You can also bet that Tony would try to outthink him, but Brainiac has a habit of turning knowledge into domination.
3. Reverse-Flash
It’s hard to trust your suit when the enemy moves faster than both you and your armor both. Speed like that can shut down almost everything Iron Man normally relies on; before Tony could even recalibrate, Eobard Thawne could already be inside the armor, behind him, or wrecking the world around him.
4. Trigon
Armor plating and missile systems don’t mean much against a demonic being with vast magical and cosmic power. So, what does that mean for Iron Man? It means Stark is facing an opponent who can not only crush him physically, but mentally and spiritually, too.
5. Mister Mxyzptlk
Okay, unpronounceable name aside, Mister Mxyzptlk would be brutal for Iron Man. Reality warping makes engineering solutions feel flimsy, especially when the other guy can rewrite the situation on a whim. Stark’s intelligence would kind of matter, but this is one of those matchups where cleverness has to keep reality from turning against him.
6. Doctor Fate’s Enemies
Tony has plenty of answers for science-based dangers, but what about the mystical threats tied to Doctor Fate’s corner of DC? Yeah, we didn’t think so. When magic starts overriding physics, Iron Man loses the dependable framework that usually lets him improvise under pressure.
7. Nekron
Nekron would be a horrifying challenge! All he does is weaponize death itself on a scale Tony isn’t built to handle. Armor can protect a body, sure, but it doesn’t solve a force that commands the dead and threatens life on a universal level.

8. Sinestro
When you think about it, a Yellow Lantern ring has power that shifts from offense to defense in an instant. So, Tony would be toast. Worse, Sinestro is disciplined enough to punish every hesitation, which means Stark couldn’t afford a single sloppy move, and like him or not, he’s known for those sometimes.
9. Black Adam
Black Adam is exactly the kind of powerhouse who could tear through Iron Man’s strategy in a heartbeat. He has magical power, he’s absurdly durable, and his speed alone would keep Stark on his toes. Even if Tony brings in heavier armor, Black Adam would still hit with a level of force even the smartest mind wouldn’t prepare for.
10. Circe
Tony’s armor can’t guarantee protection against magic like this. What magic, you ask. Oh, nothing, just the stuff that transforms, manipulates, and humiliates its target. Not to mention, if she gets around his tech defenses, he’d find himself neutralized in a way brute strength can’t fix.
11. Anti-Monitor
The Anti-Monitor makes most one-on-one battles way too small. His level of power is tied to universal destruction, so there’s only so much one guy in armor can do—especially up against a being built for cosmic annihilation.
12. Ra’s al Ghul
Everyone underestimates Ra’s al Ghul, but they really shouldn’t. Okay, he might not hit like Darkseid, but he’d still be a serious challenge. We’re talking attacks from all angles, manipulation, and long-term strategy here! He’s also patient enough to study Stark, exploit his ego, and target the weak points around him rather than the armor itself.
13. Poison Ivy
Poison Ivy is more than just a gorgeous woman with some plants. Let’s be real, Tony’s armor doesn’t make him immune to pheromones, toxins, or massive environmental control. She can also weaponize the battlefield itself, turning her surroundings into part of the attack. So, good luck to him.
14. General Zod
Tony facing Kryptonian power backed by military discipline and tactical intelligence? Yeah, that’s not going in Marvel’s favor. Unlike some heavy hitters who rely mostly on force, Zod knows how to apply his abilities with terrifying efficiency. So, Iron Man could make it a fight, but he’d hate how little margin for error he’d have.

15. The Batman Who Laughs
Yes, yes, we know that Wayne is obviously a good guy. But we’re talking about the Batman Who Laughs, a maniac built to exploit fear, paranoia, and preparation itself. It’s a pretty nasty combo against someone whose whole thing relies on contingency plans.
16. Eclipso
Eclipso’s corruption and possession aren’t threats Tony can simply blast out of existence. Once a bad guy starts attacking the mind, all the certainty of technology slips away with it. Tony would have to fight carefully, too, since one wrong move could make him a weapon against his own side.
17. Lex Luthor
What? The bald guy from Superman? Hey, put some respect on it! Lex Luthor is a lot of things Tony is: brilliant, rich, proud, and unwilling to be outclassed by another genius in armor. A straight tech war between them would already be intense, but Lex is even more dangerous since he mixes science with manipulation and a brutal drive.
18. Doomsday
There’s only so much armor can do against an ever-evolving monster. Tony’s usual tactics get way less reliable when the enemy keeps becoming harder to beat. At that point, Stark isn’t just trying to win—he’s trying to survive long enough to come up with a strategy that even stands a chance.
19. Despero
Despero brings raw strength, telepathy, and tactical skill to the table...not something that’s easily beaten. Tony can account for physical threats all day, but mind-based attacks are a completely different headache. Once Despero starts cracking his concentration, that precious armor isn’t an advantage; it’s a dependency.
20. Ares
Ares thrives on conflict, operating through divine power rather than ordinary logic. Alright, Tony has all those fancy missiles and lasers, but a god of war is tied to chaos and destruction. Tony would need more than armor and upgrades, and honestly, he’d be one more hero Ares could put down.
