The 10 Weakest Marvel Characters & The 10 Strongest

Comic Gods Vs Comic Relief

In a universe brimming with gods, mutants, cosmic entities, and wildly unpredictable forces, not every character lands on equal footing. Some bear galaxy-shattering abilities, while others have powers that are a bit more underwhelming. Ahead, we’ll dive into both extremes of the Marvel character spectrum. Before we shine a light on those who dominate with overwhelming force, let’s look at those who struggle to even make a dent.

1. Stingray

While his suit allows him to breathe underwater and deliver electric shocks, he has no superhuman abilities beyond his armored wetsuit. He was originally an oceanographer, and he briefly joined the Avengers. During a heated confrontation, Namor defeated him with one punch.

2. Jubilee

Jibilee’s primary ability is generating explosive energy plasmoids, capable of both colorful displays and significant destructive force. However, she’s consistently portrayed as ineffective in high-stakes battles. She joined the X-Men by accident, and despite her weak powers, she led her own team of young mutants.

3. Maggott

Relying on two sentient slugs that digest matter for energy, his powers are external. Without the slugs, he is physically frail and virtually powerless. Once promoted as the “next big X-Man,” he was quickly sidelined. His slugs, named Eany and Meany, live inside his abdomen.

4. Hellcow

Hellcow was turned into a vampire by Dracula himself. She retains no combat skills and is easily defeated. In a parody storyline, she teamed up with Deadpool. Her name is Bessie, and she sleeps in a barn coffin.

5. Squirrel Girl

She communicates with squirrels and has enhanced agility. Despite defeating powerful foes, her wins are almost always comedic or non-canon. With squirrels, she once beat Thanos off-panel. She has a computer science degree in recent comics and leads a team of squirrel-themed heroes at times.

6. Doop

Even though his powers include levitation, time-warping, and pocket dimensions, none are reliable. He often confuses allies and enemies alike with his incoherent actions and, at one time, boxed Wolverine to a draw in a side story. His language is unreadable and requires a decoder to understand.

7. Paste-Pot Pete

With a high-tech glue gun as his primary weapon, he has never successfully defeated any major hero in Marvel comics. Rebranding as the Trapster, the name change didn’t help. He was once part of the villain team "Frightful Four" but barely contributed.

8. Doorman

Doorman's power involves Darkforce teleportation. With it, he creates portals through solid surfaces and achieves intangibility. However, it restricts his mobility and combat effectiveness. Also, due to his lack of offensive or defensive abilities, he is one of the least threatening members of any superhero team.

9. Leech

Leech can nullify mutant powers within a certain radius. However, he is entirely dependent on others and has no offensive skills. He was raised in the Morlock tunnels beneath NYC, and one time, he temporarily depowered Magneto by hugging him.

10. Forbush Man

He has no powers or tech—only a cooking pot on his head. Existing to parody the superhero genre, he has never won a serious fight. When he saved the Marvel Universe, it was by accident. His middle name is “T.,” which stands for “The.”

Now, let’s move on from the weakest ones to the ones whose strengths we can’t deny.

1. The Living Tribunal

Even the combined powers of Infinity Stones cannot override his authority. He enforces cosmic balance and can erase entire realities if needed. His three faces represent necessity, equity, and vengeance, and one time, he stopped Thanos from using the Infinity Gauntlet irresponsibly.

2. Franklin Richards

As a child, this son of Reed Richards and Sue Storm created entire pocket universes. His reality-warping powers rival those of cosmic entities, and he aged himself into an adult to access full power. Galactus once became his herald, reversing their usual roles.

3. The Beyonder

The Beyonder possessed more power than all cosmic beings combined during the original Secret Wars. He reshaped Earth and the universe according to his whims and turned a building into gold just to observe greed. At one point, he erased Death from existence.

4. Molecule Man

With the ability to control all molecules and rearrange matter on a universal scale, he destroyed and recreated entire realities during the multiverse collapse. Before gaining cosmic-level powers, he used to be a shy lab tech. Doctor Doom feared him enough to manipulate his mind.

5. Jean Grey As Phoenix

As the Phoenix, she holds the power of life, death, and rebirth. She resisted the combined psychic assault of Charles Xavier and others and once destroyed an entire star system, killing billions. The Shi’ar Empire declared her a universal threat.

6. Thor

Mjolnir grants Thor weather control and energy blasts. He has stood toe-to-toe with cosmic threats like Thanos and Galactus, and one time, he cracked a planet in half with a single blow. Due to his godhood, he’s battled for centuries without aging.

7. Scarlet Witch

Her "No more mutants" spell instantly depowered 90% of all mutants, and her mental breakdown caused the House of M reality shift. She manipulates probability and reality on a global scale, and she once revived Wonder Man with pure will.

8. Hulk

The angrier Hulk gets, the stronger and more indestructible he becomes. He defeated Sentry in a clash that leveled a city, and one time, he held up a whole mountain range for the Avengers. World War Hulk nearly destroyed Earth out of vengeance.

9. Silver Surfer

On a planetary scale, he manipulates energy and matter. His durability and speed allow him to cross galaxies in moments, and his board is sentient and nearly indestructible. He broke free from Galactus’s control using sheer will.

10. Doctor Strange

As Sorcerer Supreme, he wields spells capable of multiversal effects. He has defeated cosmic beings like Dormammu and Shuma-Gorath, reversed time loops, and stopped apocalypse-level events. Via astral tricks, he’s died and come back more than once.
