The Super Mario universe is home to two princesses that gamers love and sometimes even fawn over. Princess Peach often gets most of the attention, but the time has come to give Princess Daisy her long-awaited due.

Sure, Peach is nice and sweet, but Daisy brings a bit of edge to the table. She also has a more distinct identity and an attitude that lends itself to fun gameplay. These factors are why you've been making a mistake picking Peach over Daisy whenever the choice presented itself, but not to worry, this behavior can be corrected.

Let's review why Princess Daisy is the superior princess, and fans of Peach should try to keep an open mind.

Vibrant Personality That Shines

There's no question that when playing a Super Mario Bros. game, Daisy stands out more than Peach. Peach is often depicted as gentle and a more classic princess who is elegant and kind. Daisy was introduced similarly to gamers, but she evolved over the years and is now more brash, confident, and has a more vibrant spirit.

Daisy's evolution matters as it turns her into a more fun character with pep. In the franchise's sports spin-offs, Daisy provides flair and is rarely passive. Playing as Daisy helps you tap into her more competitive nature. She plays to win, and it's awesome.

Peach, on the other hand, defaults to her usual damsel-in-distress role or plays the part of the supportive friend. This is all well and good, but it makes her fall into the traditional princess stereotypes, whereas Daisy gets to subvert the tropes.

A Clearer Identity

Daisy's more evolved identity makes it easy to distinguish her from Peach. There are visual differentiators, like dress color, but there is also a thematic difference imbued into the characters. For starters, Daisy comes from the kingdom of Sarasaland, not the conventional Mushroom Kingdom.

Despite being introduced in 1989 in Super Mario Land, she only became a mainstay in later spin-offs. This gave her an immediate underdog quality, and she had to fight against the perception of Peach as the quintessential princess. Daisy was less-than-perfect in some ways, making her distinct and more interesting.

Her spirited attitude made her jump off the screen, and she endeared herself to fans rather quickly, thanks to her vibe and being less of a stereotypical princess.

More Fun to Play

If you play the Mario spin-off games, you've probably noticed that Daisy brings the fun. From a mechanical standpoint, she's basically identical to Peach, but her bigger personality makes her more enjoyable to play. This elevates her over Peach in a way that the limited differences in their abilities and stats can't.

Daisy's taunts, celebrations, and outspoken nature make her the ideal choice. If you go with Peach, you're choosing to play it safe, which is such a Peach thing to do. Daisy is the fresh, more vibrant alternative. The good news is that you don't sacrifice any gameplay by choosing her over Peach.

Peach will always hold a place in Mario lore and the heart of fans, but if you're searching for a version of her that offers more pizzazz and spark, then Daisy is the better choice. Her energetic attitude, more interesting backstory, and appealing gameplay should finally put to bed who is the better princess.
