Spidey's Worst & Best
Spider-Man has been through more costume changes than most superheroes combined. Over the years, between comics, movies, TV shows, and video games, he's worn an overwhelming number of suits. Some are slick, practical, and just look awesome. Then there are the ones that look bulky or just plain weird—like Peter got dressed in the dark or lost a bet. So, first, here are ten Spider-Man suits that actually look like something a superhero would wear.
1. Spider-Armor MK I
The Spider-Armor MK I, with its shiny silver-laminate plating, was designed to deflect bullets. It debuted in Web of Spider-Man #100 and got wrecked almost immediately. While it was a bold experiment, the clunky design earned it a good spot on this list.

2. Insulated Suit
Debuting in Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 2 #425, the Insulated Suit was crafted by the Fantastic Four to combat electricity-based attacks. Despite its high-tech origins, the design never found favor with fans and quickly fizzled out of fashion.
3. Stealth Suit (Big Time)
This suit looks like Spider-Man took a wrong turn and ended up in a futuristic rave. First appearing in Amazing Spider-Man #650, it had the tech chops to impress—turning Spidey invisible and silencing his every move. But while it functioned like a dream, it looked like a sci-fi glowstick disaster.

4. MK III “Anti-Sinister Six” Suit
The MK III was built with counters for each Sinister Six member. Its red-and-green palette earned it the nickname “Christmas Armor,” and the bulky build stripped away Spider-Man’s sleek identity. Overloaded with gadgets, it resembled a rejected Iron Man prototype more than a functional Spidey suit.
5. Fear Itself Suit
Built during Marvel’s Fear Itself event, this suit was forged from Uru—the same material as Thor’s hammer—by Tony Stark and dwarves. More of a fantasy RPG than a superhero suit; it lacks Peter’s usual design input and charm.
6. Bombastic Bag-Man
After shedding the symbiote at the Baxter Building, Peter had no costume. So, he borrowed a spare Fantastic Four suit and slapped a brown paper bag on his head. No gloves, no logo, no identity. To make it worse, the Human Torch added a “Kick Me” sign for laughs.

7. Spider-Carnage Suit
When Peter bonded with the Carnage symbiote in the 1990s Spider-Man: The Animated Series, the result was Spider-Carnage. It was a visual nightmare of red-and-black chaos. Twisting tentacle-like extensions and erratic patterns turned the suit into a symbol of Peter’s darkest, most unstable self.
8. Future Foundation Suit
Gifted to Peter upon joining the Fantastic Four’s Future Foundation, this suit came with modern tech and a shape-shifting design. But its default white-with-black-trim look lacked personality. It often got confused with other variants and felt more sterile than super.

9. Velocity Suit
Introduced in the Spider-Man PS4 game, the Velocity Suit pushed speed over style. Its glowing red stripes and high-tech lines screamed Iron Man influence—no surprise, given Adi Granov’s design. But the look felt synthetic and cold, lacking the relatability that defines Peter’s usually grounded, personal suits.

10. Negative Zone Suit
Designed for the inverted-light realm of the Negative Zone, this suit replaced Spider-Man’s red-and-blue with a jarring white-and-black palette. The glowing eye lenses and chest emblem added to its alien vibe. Lastly, it’s remembered more for its gimmick than its design.

Now, let’s consider ten suits that make you wonder who approved them—and why no one stopped them in time.
1. Symbiote Suit
It all started in Secret Wars #8, where Peter got a whole personality crisis. The sleek black-and-white look instantly turned heads and never really left pop culture. With boosted strength, speed, and a ridiculous webbing upgrade, this alien suit meant business.

2. Classic Red And Blue Suit
Back in Amazing Fantasy #15, Steve Ditko gave the world a red-and-blue masterpiece that would swing through decades unchanged. Whether on comics, lunchboxes, or the big screen, it's the unmistakable symbol of friendly neighborhood heroism.

3. Spider-Man 2099 Suit
Jumping to the year 2099, we meet Miguel O’Hara—a geneticist with a serious upgrade in the style department. This suit, forged from unstable molecules, flaunts a red skull emblem and a web cape that screams cyberpunk cool. Interestingly, the design brought a futuristic menace to Spidey’s world.

4. Into The Spider-Verse Suit
Spray-painted over a store-bought Spider-Man costume, this black-and-red graffiti-inspired look wasn’t about fitting in; it was about standing out. Featured in Into the Spider-Verse, the suit radiates rebellion, creativity, and cultural pride.
5. Superior Spider-Man Suit
When Otto Octavius hijacked Peter’s body, he gave the suit a cold-blooded makeover. Packed with tech upgrades, it felt like a Spider-Man-Iron Man fusion with a serious superiority complex. This version of Spidey is played by being unapologetically efficient.

6. Scarlet Spider (Ben Reilly Hoodie)
Ben Reilly’s Scarlet Spider suit screamed DIY rebel, with web cartridges strapped on the outside and zero concern for subtlety. It had that gritty, '90s street-hero flair—mocked at first, now adored for its bold charm. Thanks to a healthy dose of nostalgia, this once-controversial look refuses to fade from the comic pages.

7. PS4 Advanced Suit
Designed exclusively for Marvel’s Spider-Man on PlayStation, this suit introduced a striking white spider emblem that instantly set it apart. A respectful evolution of the classic, it struck a chord with fans and exploded into merch and sequel fame.
8. Ben Reilly Spider-Man Suit
With brighter blues, sharper reds, and those edgy, angular lenses, this redesign walked the line between throwback and a bold new era. In the chaos of the Clone Saga, it stood out and earned lasting love from fans who still root for the underdog.

9. Spider-Gwen Suit
Spider-Gwen’s suit features a white and black foundation accented by vivid magenta webs and a signature hood. Beyond aesthetics, the design immediately resonated with audiences—especially young women—offering a fresh, empowered take on Spider-heroism.

10. Spider-Man Noir Suit
In a shadowy 1933 universe, Peter Parker takes on crime with trench coat grit and a fedora pulled low. He wears WWI-style goggles and isn’t afraid to use guns or his sharp detective instincts. This version trades banter for brutal justice, bringing a moody edge to the Spider-Man mythos.
